Airports are AMAZING for people-watching. If you pay attention, it’s a basic tutorial of what to do, and a LOT of what not to do. People will often tell you to learn from the mistakes of others, but you can also learn from the rare good choices of others as well.
SO....that said, each time I fly, I’ll pay homage to the chicest B on the flight and examine how we can all learn from her.
This morning I was on a 6am flight from L.A. to Atlanta, so I have to say I did not have high expectations for this group of people.
But about 1/2 way through the flight, this super-cute fashionista saunters up the aisle past me, and I kicked myself for completely shutting off my iPhone rather than choosing airplane mode so I could take a pic.
She had a cute, peachy-pink romper with the bottom so flared I mistook it for a skirt at first. It buttoned up the front in a prim-but-fashionable sort of way, and she wore a black long-sleeved cardigan over it (dressing for travel is all about layers). She had simple little black flats, and hair pulled back neatly in a ponytail. I LOVED the classic pink and black combo. She was like a cute little blond Audrey Hepburn. Simple. Comfortable. And cute! It is possible to travel stylishly! Thank you, little blonde Audrey, for imparting your wisdom to us.
Take note darlings: you don’t have to wear sweats on an airplane to be comfortable, or worse, pajamas. Pajamas in public are just not okay.
Also, as a side note, the one positive about that annoying take-your-shoes-off-at-security rule is that it has significantly reduced the number of people wearing their sneakers to the airport. I know you walk a lot, but it’s not a HIKE. You’ll be fine in cute flats, I promise.
